What it is

Clay Planet is a Northern California clay manufacturer and ceramics supply house that sells its own moist clay bodies, Western Ceramic Glazes, underglazes, engobes, kilns, pottery wheels, tools, raw materials, and classroom equipment through its official online shop and Santa Clara retail warehouse. The About Us and shop home pages say Clay Planet serves teachers, students, and artists for over 50 years, manufactures over 20 signature ceramic clay bodies, and manufactures 400+ colors of Western Ceramic Glazes, underglazes, and engobes. About Us: on February 1, 2004 Claymaker became Clay Planet and moved to 1775 Russell Avenue, Santa Clara, CA; in 2008 Clay Planet purchased (Sherry’s) Western Ceramic Supply and became the sole manufacturer of Western Ceramic Glazes (produced in the northern California Bay Area since the 1950s). It is not a membership guild. Workshops appear on the shop menus, but this listing treats Clay Planet as a manufacturer and supply house with an official shop URL, not as a drop-in class studio.

Who it’s for

Studio potters, schools, production shops, and hobbyists who need Clay Planet moist clay bodies, Western glazes, equipment (Skutt, Shimpo, Paragon, L&L, and others), or materials shipped nationally or picked up at the Santa Clara warehouse. This is a manufacturer and supply house with an official shop URL, not a guild membership hall.

Why it’s listed

This is a first-party supplier operation with a printed warehouse street address, regular retail hours, a 2026 holiday closure schedule, an official online shop with on-page moist-clay 25 lb bag prices and quantity tiers, equipment list/sale prices, and clear order-processing/shipping rules — not a scraped directory card and not an Amazon storefront.
