What it is

San Antonio Potters Guild is a San Antonio–area member pottery association. The About Us page states that the Guild was founded in 1995 and is rooted in San Antonio, with members from the city and surrounding areas who share a passion for working with clay. Members include functional potters, ceramic artists, and sculptors; the Guild welcomes creators of all experience levels — professionals, hobbyists, students, and beginners — as well as “friends of clay” (collectors, supporters, and patrons). The printed mission is to support the artistic growth and professional development of its members by providing educational programs, social and community events, and professional development opportunities, and thereby to promote a vibrant ceramic arts community in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Bylaws adopted April 20, 2021 are linked from the homepage. It is not a commercial clay supplier and it is not a drop-in teaching studio with its own permanent public class program as its primary identity.

Who it’s for

Anyone in the greater San Antonio region who makes pottery or ceramic work — beginner through professional — plus supporters of clay who want guild fellowship, free member workshops, scholarship access, juried shows, and member sale opportunities. Join Us benefits printed: free workshops; scholarship opportunities; sell artwork with no vendor fee; juried shows and exhibitions; volunteer opportunities; connect with the local ceramics community. Student membership requires a working school email on the Join form.

Why it’s listed

This is a first-party Texas pottery-guild site with printed annual dues tiers, dated 2026 workshop listings with venues and hours, an active scholarship program with ’26 recipients named on the Scholarship page, and 2026 board-meeting minutes posted on the homepage — not a scraped directory card.

Q: Does SAPG run a public drop-in pottery studio?
A: No permanent public open-studio classroom brand is the guild’s primary identity on About Us or Join Us. SAPG is a member association that holds workshops, meetings, scholarships, juried shows, member sales, and Empty Bowls support at partner venues. For weekly class-studio practice, use a local teaching studio or your own workspace; join SAPG for association benefits and workshop/scholarship eligibility, not as a substitute for a class-studio membership.
