What it is

The Colorado Potters Guild is a member-run potters’ cooperative in Denver, CO. The History page calls it a not-for-profit cooperative founded to “Promote individual artistic growth,” “Provide studio facilities for the members,” “Promote the artistic standing of the Guild,” and “Contribute to the growth of ceramic arts in Colorado.” Homepage copy: founded in 1964 by eighteen charter members; “today has grown and prospered to a membership of 40.” The Members page: “a non-profit, all-volunteer organization with a membership of 40 active artist members and 7 associate/honorary members.” It is not a commercial clay supplier and it is not a drop-in class studio.

Who it’s for

Experienced potters who want a cooperative member studio (not beginners). History: “Although not equipped to accept the beginning potter, the Colorado Potters Guild welcomes members of all expertise.” Apply for Membership: “If you’re an experienced potter looking for a new home to focus on your work.” The public who want the twice-yearly pottery sales. Take a Class: “The Colorado Potters Guild does not offer classes” and “We are not open to the public.”

Why it’s listed

This is a first-party Denver guild site with a printed South Pearl Street address, a named member roster, a current equipment list, and dated Spring and Fall 2026 sales — not a scraped directory card.

  • Footer on every page checked: 1541 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210; (303) 733-3003; copottersguild@gmail.com. Our Studio: former dairy on historic South Pearl Street; the Guild purchased the building in 1984 (History page).
  • Our Studio equipment printed: 2 Randall kick wheels; 5 electric wheels (one standing); electric slab roller; extruder; glaze mixing area; sculpture/table work area(s); chemical storage; damp room; spray booth; 2 large gas kilns; 1 vapor (soda) kiln; 2 electric kilns. Midrange oxidation glazes and high-fire reduction glazes for members; clay stocked in-studio (chemical/glaze costs factored into clay purchases; outside clay needs a “nominal chemical/glaze fee” — dollar amount not printed).
  • Members page (checked 2026-09-02): 40 named active members plus 7 associate/honorary names. History: applications “always welcome and are reviewed as space becomes available.” Apply for Membership: “We don’t always have open spots, but once one opens up we’ll review applications and get in contact.” No initiation fee or monthly dues were printed on the pages checked today — do not invent them.
  • Events page 2026 sales printed: Spring 2026 Pottery Sale Thursday April 30 4:00–8:00 p.m., Friday May 1 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Saturday May 2 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Fall 2026 Pottery Sale Thursday November 5 4:00–8:00 p.m., Friday November 6 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Saturday November 7 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Both at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 South Colorado Boulevard, Englewood, CO 80113. Copy: more than 2000 ceramic items from nearly 40 member artists; items refreshed daily; staffed by members; admission is free. Our Studio: the Pearl Street building “is not currently open to the public and is not large enough for our biannual sales events,” so May and November sales rent the church.

Hours, sale times, and roster above are what the official pages showed on the check date. They can change. Use the Events listing before treating any date as fixed.

Notes

  • Category is Guild. Cooperative membership, shared member studio, juried/space-limited intake, and public sales. They print that they do not offer classes. Not a clay manufacturer and not a commercial studio brand.
  • Do not invent dues. No dollar amounts for initiation, monthly fees, or clay/glaze charges were on the pages checked 2026-09-02.
  • History page equipment counts (eleven kick wheels; three electric and three gas kilns) differ from the more specific Our Studio list. Use Our Studio as the current printed inventory; treat History as older building-story copy.
  • Events page still lists 2024 First Fridays on Pearl and 2024–2025 sales. Those are past. The live 2026 dates of record today are the Spring and Fall 2026 church sales.
  • Take a Class lists NCECA only as a miscellaneous resource link (“The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA)”). That is not a printed affiliation. Do not invent one.
  • Not affiliated with Clay Plaza.

FAQ
