What it is

Armory Art Center is a nonprofit community art school and teaching campus in West Palm Beach, Florida. Its official mission is to inspire the creation and experience of art; its vision is to become a leading artistic and cultural center. Programming includes multi-week adult and youth art classes across roughly 12 state-of-the-art studios (ceramics among them, plus photography & digital media, drawing, jewelry, painting, printmaking, textiles & fiber, and sculpture); one-session Art Encounter workshops; summer camps; exhibitions in three galleries; Artists-in-Residence; and special events. The campus at 811 Park Place (south end of Howard Park) includes three buildings — two former Palm Beach County National Guard Armory buildings and the Young Artists Studio Facility. It is not a guild and not a commercial clay supplier.

Who it’s for

Adults 16+ seeking Fall multi-week ceramics classes (introduction to wheel throwing / handbuilding, intermediate and advanced wheel, handbuilding, paperclay sculpture, guided independent studio, raku/alternative firing, and related sections); first-timers booking one-session Art Encounter ceramic workshops (e.g. tumblers, mugs); youth and family programs (Clay Play ages 2–4, Art Adventures Clay, Young Artists Clay, Homeschool Pottery); private-lesson seekers ($60/hour on the School Information page); members using membership discounts and early registration; and gallery / campus visitors during posted public hours. School Policies: only currently enrolled students in a full 6-week class may use/purchase additional open studio access — the Armory does not sell open-studio-only access.
